In Good Hands
If there comes a time your child requires pediatric anesthesia to address a cardiac concern, you want them to be capably cared for by expert physicians. All of The Heart Center’s anesthesiologists are board certified, pediatric-trained, and have subspecialties in treating children with heart disease.
If a procedure is required, cardiac patients and their families are seen prior to surgery to discuss an anesthetic plan. Both during and after this meeting, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, address concerns and determine the most appropriate approach with your physician.
We encourage parental involvement in the preoperative area while children are getting ready for surgery. If your child is anxious, he or she may be given a mild sedating medicine before leaving you to go to the operating room. Parents are not allowed in the operating room because of the need to maintain a sterile operating room environment and to allow us to focus all our attention on your child. During surgery, though, parents can receive updates on their child’s surgery using the EASE app.
